Dr. Jocelyn Lymburner is a Licensed Psychologist who provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy for adults and couples. Her expertise includes working with clients navigating difficult life transitions as well as relationship challenges such as jealousy, insecurity, and loneliness. Dr. Lymburner is particularly skilled at helping couples rebuild trust and intimacy, addressing disconnection caused by chronic negative interaction patterns, competing life demands, and marital infidelity.

Committed to best practice standards, Dr. Lymburner uses evidence-based therapies such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals and couples, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) for depression, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Dr. Lymburner has over two decades of experience working with couples, supporting them in regaining intimacy and connection in their relationships. She has worked with adults with a wide range of clinical concerns, including depression, anxiety, past trauma, stress, personality and identity issues, and grief and loss. Her clinical work spans diverse settings, including private practice, outpatient psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, corrections, and medical-legal contexts. She is also trained in comprehensive psychological assessments for medical-legal contexts and treatment planning. Beyond therapy, Dr. Lymburner regularly delivers workshops on the science and practice of wellness as well as specialized DSM-5 training, to diverse audiences including educators, nurses, teachers, counselors, police officers, and social workers across British Columbia.
Academic Contributions and Research
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Lymburner is the Chair of the Psychology Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she is an award-winning educator and mentor, dedicated to undergraduate education and promoting experientially-based learning. Her research, which has been supported by national and provincial grants, includes studies on youth mentorship, Borderline Personality Disorder, mental health stigma, mental wellness in university students, and the science of teaching and scholarship.
Education and Background
Born and raised on Canada’s east coast, Dr. Lymburner earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Prince Edward Island. She completed her Master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University, including an accredited pre-doctoral residency in Clinical Health Psychology through the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine.
