With over two decades of experience as a clinical psychologist, researcher, and educator, Dr. Melanie Badali is dedicated to using science-informed strategies to help people achieve meaningful personal change. A CACBT-ACTCC certified expert in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dr. Badali can help you identify beliefs and behaviours that are contributing to your difficulties, and work with you to develop skills that allow you to flourish.
Dr. Badali specializes in helping clients learn to manage stress, worry, anxiety, and panic. She also supports adults navigating life transitions, including pregnancy, parenthood, menopause, caregiving and retirement. Her clients also include executives and professionals aiming to improve resilience, work-life balance, and overall wellbeing. Dr. Badali's warm and collaborative approach, coupled with her extensive knowledge of effective techniques, makes her a trusted expert in helping clients build resilience and align actions with their values. Education and Experience
Dr. Badali earned her PhD and MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of British Columbia, following her Honours Psychology BA from McGill University. She completed her doctoral residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine and is an International OCD Foundation BTTI graduate. Before joining the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic, Melanie worked in hospitals, university health centres, and multidisciplinary clinics providing both psychological assessments and therapy. She has also enjoyed teaching and mentoring students over the years, most recently as an adjunct professor at Yorkville University.
Advocacy and Community
A committed mental health advocate, Dr. Badali believes everyone should have access to science-based care. She was a Board Director for Anxiety Canada and Anxiety BC, and volunteer with the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies and the Canadian Psychological Association. She shares what she knows about psychology through writing, public speaking, and media appearances, including being featured by CBC, Global News, The Globe and Mail, Reader’s Digest, Chatelaine Magazine, and Today’s Parent. Dr. Badalia is grateful to work in beautiful North Vancouver and contribute to her community as a member of 100 Women Who Care of the North Shore.
